Want to Move to Milliken?

This suburb is about 48 miles north of Denver and is considered a historic town dating back to the 1860s but incorporated in 1910. It was a vibrant railroad community but today is more of a sleepy, bedroom community of larger neighboring towns. It's mostly farmland, cattle ranchers, a beautiful downtown with a few businesses, municipal buildings, and a couple of restaurants.

Milliken is completely land-bound, all 5.7 mi.² of it. It has rolling hills and beautiful typography, trees and natural grasslands. Newer homes are found on the outskirts of the main town area with cattle ranches and farms, or homes with acreage a little further out. You'll find neighborhood parks, softball fields, and basketball courts as well as a few playgrounds here or there. Depending on the location, you can see for miles in just about every direction and right downtown you'll find a Dollar General, Mexican restaurant, grocery store, and veterinarian.

Even though there are wide open spaces, Milliken has been designated as a "Tree City, USA". There are some 50-year-old buildings in the community including the Odd Fellow Hotel on Broad Street and the famous grain elevator or the "cathedral" on the planes. Nearby is Fort Vasquez, and 1830s for a trading post that accompanied American Indians and early settlers. Milliken is also home to the Dent Mountains, an 11,000-year-old archaeological dig site where prehistoric mammals once roamed to this peaceful countryside. And of course, the Rocky Mountain National Park is just an hour west.

What do the local say?

"The town of Milliken is growing exponentially as with the whole state of Colorado, but what makes Milliken different is the small atmosphere that is growing with it. People are friendly and kind, and it's easy to make new friends everyday. It's like walking into a new business and being accepted into a lifelong community."

"Milliken is a nice place to live. Small town feel, everyone is friendly, and bigger towns are nearby!" - Niche.com
